Gummies typically come in a 25mg dose per gummy, making it incredibly easy to raise or lower your daily amount based on your individual needs. The strength of your gummies may vary, though, depending upon the brand you choose.

How Is CBD Used?

As we mentioned earlier, CBD has a multitude of medicinal uses. Let’s look at the top three reasons CBD is used.

CBD for Chronic Pain

There are many conditions that cause chronic pain. Some examples are fibromyalgia, arthritis, and migraine disease.

These conditions are challenging to treat and often involve taking pharmaceutical medication to manage a patient’s pain level. The medication can come with side effects and may not work for every patient. 

CBD works with the body’s endocannabinoid system to relieve pain and offers an alternative for patients experiencing adverse side effects or not seeing a reduction in pain levels while taking medication.

CBD for Anxiety and Depression

CBD has been known to have stress-relieving properties and some studies even suggest it can improve anxiety and depression by interacting with the receptors in the brain associated with these conditions.

Your adenosine receptors are responsible for regulating your anxiety levels. If these receptors are not working correctly, your anxiety level can fluctuate and be elevated. CBD aids the regulation of your adenosine receptors to keep your anxiety level low.

Depression can be the result of your serotonin receptors malfunctioning. If your serotonin levels are too high or low, your mood can fluctuate rapidly between manic and depressed states. Like with anxiety, CBD can regulate your serotonin receptors to stabilize your mood.

CBD for Sleep

Loss of sleep is perhaps one of the most insidious side effects of battling anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, and numerous other conditions.

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is the deepest sleep stage where we dream, and the body is paralyzed. 

If someone is experiencing REM sleep abnormalities, they may physically act out during this stage of sleep, causing injury to themselves or others, and feel unrested when they wake. In higher strengths, CBD has been shown to improve insomnia, REM sleep abnormalities and increase the amount of sleep a person gets at night. 

Be advised, however, that at lower usage, CBD can promote wakefulness. You’ll want to work with your doctor on finding the correct usage to help you sleep.

Are There Any Side Effects?

When it comes to side effects, CBD has very few. The most common side effect is dry mouth, which is standard no matter how it is consumed.

CBD can, however, decrease your liver’s ability to metabolize other medications. That is why it is crucial to speak with your doctor before adding CBD supplements to your daily routine.

CBD can also interact negatively with some natural supplements such as 5-HTP, melatonin, St. John’s Wort, skullcap, and valerian. Be sure to speak with your doctor about any supplements you are taking in addition to pharmaceutical medication.

Should You Use CBD?

Because of its few side effects and extensive uses, CBD could be a great addition to your health plan. CBD is nearly impossible to overdose on, making it safe to be taken daily. 

As we mentioned above, just be sure to talk with your doctor before you begin a CBD regimen.

Will CBD Show up on A Drug Test?

One question that makes people hesitant to begin using CBD is whether or not it will show up on a drug test.

Thankfully, the answer is no. 

A drug test is screening for THC, the psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant, not CBD. Some CBD products can contain low levels of THC, though, so you’ll want to look for products that are labeled as entirely free of THC.
